Kids Art Classes @ Art Plus in 2018
Tuesdays, 3.30 to 5.00 pm (8 years + ), with Marlies Oakley
Thursdays, 3.30 to 5.00 pm (8 years + ), with Jay Feather
Classes will be held during school terms and will be $15 per lesson (materials included), a visual diary will be provided for note taking and idea development.
Our classes are designed to encourage creativity and experimentation, supporting imagination and individuality, rather than teaching formal drawing and painting techniques.
In 2018 we will be taking our inspiration from 20th Century Art. For example, we will explore Pop Art and artists like Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol and use the works of these artists as a springboard to learn about colour, design and composition which we will then translate into artworks of our own. As well as perhaps delving into Impressionism, Surrealism or Abstract Expressionism as catalysts for ideas.
We will be working in a variety of media from painting to drawing to sculpture to create artworks based on these themes.
In Term 4 we will be selecting artworks for a student exhibition at the end of the year which will be held at the School of Arts, [Volunteer help to man the exhibition would be appreciated] and we will display student works in our shop window throughout the year.
Where appropriate we will also be visit the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery depending on the exhibitions on display, to get inspiration.
Term 1 30th January to 29th March 9 weeks
Term 2 17th April to 23rd June 11 weeks
Term 3 17th July to 20th Sept 10 weeks
Term 4 9th Oct to 29th Nov 8 weeks
Occasionally, we might ask for a minor contribution to cover the costs of additional art supplies.
